Cucorba is born as a theatrical group in the year 1977 with the play "En Joanet des flabiol", an adaptation of a popular tale with the same name. The following year they perform "N´Espardenyeta", and in 1979 "El Dimoni Cucarell".
In 1980 they perform in the Romea theatre in Barcelona, for the XXVIII theatrical cycle of the theatre Cavall Fort, "N´Espardenyeta", and they open "l´Abat de la Real" in Mallorca. In 1981, they return to the Romea theatre with the spectacle "Les aventures d´en Pere Pistoles", and they record for TVE – Catalunya. The next year they mount "La Princesa Embruixada" in the Romea theatre for the XXXIII theatrical cycle of the theatre Cavall Fort and they record for TVE-Catalunya´s program Carro de la Farsa. They also participate in the III Theatrical festival of Palma. In 1983 the return with the representation of the popular tale "En Toni Migdimoni", and they attend the XXXIV theatrical cycle of the theatre Cavall Fort in the Romea. They also embark on a 22-day tour of Barcelona and Girona. In this same year they record the video "N´Espardenyeta" under the direction of Marc Vadell.
In the year 1984 they open " El Corsari de l´Illa dels Conills". They act in the prefestival of La Sala Mozart theatre of the Palma Auditorium, and they attend Grec 84 in Barcelona with the play "En Toni Migdimoni". They also combine theatre with animation spectacles. In 1985 they act in la Sala Sarria in the XXXVIII theatrical cycle of the theatre Cavall Fort with the play "L´Abat de la Real". They record the Trau Trenat program for TVE- Balears and the release their first LP "Com un pern de rifa". In 1988 they record their second LP "Demà és festa" in temps d´Estiu for TVE-Balears.
The work of the Cucorba group was recognized with important awards, they received the Frances de Borja Moll prize, awarded by the Conselleria de Cultura, Educació I Esports del Govern Balear in recognition of the extraordinary work towards the impulse and development of the Catalan language in the Illes Balears culture.
Between 1984 and 90 they produced during a period of 5 months, Trencaclosques for the TVE Balears (20 programs of 30 minutes duration). They also recorded an LP with the same title. This same year 1990 l´Obre Cultural Balear awards the Group the prize Premi Bartomeu Oliver, in recognition of their contribution in fomenting the use of the culture and language of the nation. This year they are also awarded the Premi 31 of Desembre. In the year 1991 they act in the TV magatzem program. In 1992 they return to the stage "N´Espardenyeta", and in 1993 they record the CD and Cassette "Xica pica pollerica" and with other singers "Les millors cançons infantils" released in LP, CD and Cassette. In the year 1993 they record " En Juan Petit quan balla" in CD and cassette, which is a recompilation of their more representative songs of the first three recordings, with a few new arrangements. In this same year they stage again "En Toni Migdimoni". In 1997 they stage " L´Abat de la Real" totally renovated and in 99 they repeat " En Juan petit quan balla".
In 2001 they record on CD and Cassette their seventh LP "Prou de mollor"
They are members of the Associacio Balear d´Empreses productores de Teatre (ABET) and the Music de Mallorca per la Llengua.
Since their creation in 1977 they have dedicated themselves to theatre and infant animation. During all this year they have conveiged their proposal to all popular village festivities, they have recompiled and recorded nearly 100 songs. The tunes that children sang in the streets, schools and in youth clubs…. and many of their own creations. They try and offer the children new possibility with their original games and music, many now popular in the island. They do this in an attempt to prolong the festivity much further than acting out their plays in streets and squares, and at the same time actively contributing to the linguistic normalization and cultural restoration of the nation.
