Antlia, mithology, history and telescopical constellation

	Antlia represents a chain dump of special type used in the antiquity to elevate water, or pneumatic machine with which in 1752 it was introduced by Lacaille to equip the expedition of the Argonauts embarked in the great celestial ship to conquer the mythical vellocino of gold.

Antlia is a quite small constellation located to the north of the equator of the galaxy, and the south of the celestial equator, it limits the north with longest constellation of Hydra, to the east with the constellation of Pyxis, to the south with Vela and the west with Centaurus. it's situated between 40º of austral latitude to 25º. Antlia is in opposition during the month of March in low latitudes in in the North and high hemisphere in the austral autumn. Constellation of Antlia I located January 5^th, 1986 in the locality of Ca'n Picafort, Mallorca Island, when I was 19 years-old.

Main stars

Alpha, a ; with a magnitude of 4.4 it is of reddish color or spectral type K, is to 360 years light and it reveals to us that the star is a giant 100 times more luminous than the Sun is in the stellar group of the Hyades cluster situated in Taurus.

Épsilon, e ; with a magnitude of 4,5, it's to 700 light-years, its color is orange of K2 type, is also a giant 150 times more luminous than our Sun.

Iota, i ; it stars orange, of phantom K, whose magnitude is of 4.60 which light of us is to 198 light-years.

Other objects

U Antlia, variable of certain importance that is to 9º to the south of a Antlia, is a star of carbon, spectral type N that emits one alive red light, varies between magnitudes 5.4 and 6.8 in a period of 170 days.

NGC 3132: It is nebulosae planetary that are in the limit with the constellation of Vela, its magnitude is of 8 and it's1300 light-years.
