McNaught (2006P1)

History

The McNaught comet was discovered by the become fond of astronomer Robert H. Mc-Naught the 7 of August of 2006 from Australia. The perihelion or point next to the Sun took place the 7 of January of 2007 reaching a visual magnitude of -1 in spite of being already very next to the Sun I could locate it from you locate of Inca (Majorca, Spain) the 11 to it of January of 2007.

This comet has a hyperbolic orbit, is to say its eccentricity is of 1.00003005, superior to 1 and therefore, will never return more to approach the Sun, that is to say, every year of our Solar System will move away leaving it with the years.

During the perihelion it was possible to be observed from latitudes of the North hemisphere in the southwestern South horizon between the Venus planet and the Altair star (to aquilae).

Localitation of McNaught comet

Sky & telescope

The location of the comet I made thanks to prisms binocular day 11 of January of 2007 to 17h.02m. (YOUR). With the digital camera I began to make photos but I was not able to make no photo clear, the second photo can be considered like the best one than I could do of the zone and very hardly it is observed with the camera the comet.

With the prisms binocular the image of the comet was spectacular, with the nucleus very shining and the tail of about two degrees of length.
