Mythology and history
|
The bull or Taurus represents the fertility and the force as well as the sense of protection. During many centuries and in many towns the chaste one of the bull has been recognized. Also it is necessary to mention the meaning of the horns, that represented the abundance. One thinks that it has origin the constellation of Taurus in old Babylonia. But there is more: According to Rappenglueck Investigator (1997), the bull uro that is in cave paintings of the cave of Lascaux can represent the constellation of the Bull, which would put an age to him to this constellation of near 40,000 years. The interesting thing of this supposition is the presence of a group of points that can represent the Pleiads inclusively and, is a drawing can form to the Hyades. In the cave of Altamira, also images exist that could represent the Bull as a whole: an agglomeration of bisons raised or fallen females can represent the Pleiads and an pregnant mare could represent the Hyades that as a whole total with one ciervas, could show the constellation of the Taurus (White Martín, 2001). |
|
In old Egypt, the bulls were sacred and after deads, embalsamados and placed in stone tombs. In Crete, the bull was a God and the cretenses thought that the world was placed between two horns that when moving, made to the Earth shake.
The sense of protection of the Bull can be explained
in the fact that the Pleiads are on their back, like a huída strategy
of before the harassment of
Orion; Zeus, the Father of all the Gods, put them in the sky to the
sisters under the protection of the Bull. In Greek mythology one
counts in the history of Jasón and the Argonautas that when arriving at the
kingdom of the Cólquidas, site where one was in a plateau protected by a
dragoon, the Vellosino de Oro, symbol of the Maxima reached espiritualidad.
Aetes, the king of the Cólquidas, Aetes, promised the delivery of the
Vellosino to Jasón if it overcame the Bull I wag and later it seeded
with dragon's teeths the field of You plow, tests these that no mortal had
surpassed. The Bull I wag he was gigantic and it had a mortal breath
that exhalaba fire. Nevertheless, Jasón had the fortune with which the
daughter of the king of the Cólquidas, Medea call, fell in love deeply with
him, thanks to a gold arrow of accused end that it was shot by Cupido by
order of Hera, wife of Zeus. Medea, that had the gift of the magic, anointed
to Jasón with one pócima that it would protect to him of the breath of
the Bull and thanks to this and the strength of Jasón, after not being
affected by the breath of the bull, were rushed on this one and
mounted in his back, after successive jumps and maneuvers it could not undo
of Jasón and after a long process of fight, the bull was dominated
finally and to his favor Later Jasón it seeded with dragon's teeths the
field of You plow that soldiers became skeletons which they fought against
him and after one arduous fight, defeated the last test of king Aetes and it
went to the conquest of the Vellosino de Oro, something that obtained, not
without before appearing in his way, new and difficult tests that were
surpassed well, including the treason of the king and the treason of his
brother after the return with the Vellosino de Oro
(Jason and The Argonauts, 2000).
The prize to surpass so many and so difficult tests was the crowned being
Jasón with the Vellosino de Oro, symbol of the wisdom and its eternal union
with Medea, the magician who will allow him to still more know all the
secrets this one and other worlds and, the secrets of the life and the later
death and to that, to follow with the conquest of skies under l watched
letter and the permanent support of the Gods of the Mount Olympus.
The Pleiads are known anywhere in the world, except for the towns that are very to the south (it is due to remember that are these stars between +23° and +24°). He was already mentioned from places in the time as distant as 2,357 years A.C. by the Chinese astronomers (Cross, 1988). Llama the attention an appreciation of White Martín that suggests them seven sisters is recognized thus by almost all the cultures of the world, from the European to those of the Australian Continent, including the Americans, reason why its mitológico origin can be overcome to extremely old times. The stars represent seven sisters, Atlas daughters and Pleyon. Their names are Merope, Taigete, Mayan, Electra, Alcyone, Celaeno and Asterope. All had love affairs with the Gods, except Merope which was punished being between the sisters, the star that less brightness has. According to account history which sometimes the Pleiads in some of those enchanted forests of mythology with the Orion soldier ran into, who quickly was enchanted by the dulzura and love affair expressed in each one of the seven sisters and from then, followed them without truce. These, tired of such harassment, suplicaron to Zeus, released them of so annoying pursuer. Zeus felt sorry itself of them and their plea and turned the seven sisters doves that took off arriving in their trip until finishing in stars entering to comprise of them in a place of skies, corresponding to the constellation of the Bull, more exactly on the back, so that from the strength and ferocity are protected there by thanks to the protection sense that the bull offers them . If the origin of the Pleiads word is watched , exists in Greek the word "plein" that means to sail and there am another one here aspec to related to the Pleiads, which, the old and still modern navigators, do not leave to the sea when the seven sisters are not visible in the sky since the clouds that you cover them give an omen badly that can make return reality the fears from the navigators; abundant rains and marine storms that can make be shipwrecked any boat and make still succumb to the most experienced sailors. It is why the experience says that that better navigator of the sea, the one of more experience, knows that the best way to do to him in front, is respecting its greatness and the best weapon to face to him, is humility and the prudence.

Characteristics
Taurus, or the bull is a precious visible winter constellation during the nights you cold of winter in the North hemisphere and near the North horizon to low height in the South hemisphere during the warm summery nights. The power is a pleasure to contemplate it during hours in those hours you cold nights of winter and power to enjoy the cluster of the Pleiads so spectacular and with as much history as the Hyades and its wonderful main star, Aldebarán.
Taurus is a zodiacal constellation and like so during any month of year we can also find any planet crossing the constellation or, the Moon that peculiarly we can get to as much contemplate the concealment of the Pleiads as of Aldebarán every seven years, or also the passage of some planet as the stellar cluster M45 is the case of Venus crossing or the one of the Pleiads. It turns out fascinating to contemplate it and to observe as much beauty summarized in a medium constellation of size. Logically to the zodiacal being the Sun crosses the constellation during 38 days until half-full of June and on the other hand also the equator of the Milky Route crosses the constellation in its limit Gemini, therefore, is logical to observe great amount of stellar clusters and nebulas, such as the planetary nebula M1 that also exploded the 4 of July of 1054 seen one by the European cultures of the time and by the pre-Columbian ones of the state of Arizona (the U.S.A.). Thousand years later we can contemplate to the nebula in expansion and the star cause of the same one. There is so much to see, and to enjoy that it is worth the trouble to contemplate it during hours.
Taurus limits the north with the constellations of Auriga and Perseus, to the east with Aries and Cetus, to the south with the constellations of Eridianus and Orion and to the west with Gemini.
Taurus I located the 7 to it of December of 1981, in one night cold of winter from the locality of Inca, Majorca, Spain when it had 15 years, was the third constellation that I located and with it I began to locate them all.

Other objects M45, denominated Pleyades, wonderful stellar cluster formed by blue stars located to 368 years Earth light, is formed by blue giant stars whose original nebula can be observed with great telescopes. M 1; planetary nebula of magnitude 8.4 of angular diameter 6'x4', in her is observable the star that in 1054 exploded becoming pressing denominated 3C144. it is located closely together of z Tauri in the western sector of Taurus. NGC 1807; precious stellar cluster of magnitude 7.0, 17' of arc of diameter angular and formed by stars of ninth magnitude. One is in the south of the constellation. NGC 1817; pretty stellar cluster located to only 20' of NGC 1807, magnitude 7.7, has an angular diameter of 16', is formed by fifty stars that oscillate between tenth and décimocuarta magnitude. Earth light is to 5,700 years and has a considered age of 790 million years |
